Last month, Honda debuted the Honda Civic Si Prototype, providing insight into next year’s 2017 Honda Civic Si Coupe and Honda Civic Si Sedan, both of which will join the 2017 Honda Civic lineup.

So what’s set to differentiate the upcoming Honda Civic Si from the base model? Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of Honda, was on hand at the debut to shed some light on that question: "With the new Honda Civic Si, we're injecting even more sporty goodness into our 10th-generation Civic lineup. This will be, hands down, the fastest, best-handling Si we've ever offered to our customers." That’s right, the Honda Civic Si is all about performance. And if you’ve ever driven a Honda Civic, you know that it’s no slouch on the open road, so stepping it up even more means a seriously sporty ride.

To that end, both the Honda Civic Si Coupe and Honda Civic Si sedan will be powered by a high-performance, high-torque, 1.5-liter direct-injected and turbocharged DOHC in-line 4-cylinder engine with dual variable cam timing (dual VTC) mated to a short-shifting 6-speed manual transmission. And that’s not all. A new active damper system, active steering system, limited-slip differential, and available high-performance tires are on hand to make driving these new models an even more thrilling experience.

Inside, the new prototype is close to what we’ll see on the showroom floor. Si-exclusive front sport seats feature red stitching, which carries through to the steering wheel, doors, and leather shift boot with aluminum shift knob.
