Trying to find a three-row family hauler leaves you with no shortage of options for the 2020 model year. Here at Hall Honda Virginia Beach, we love all our models, and when it comes to finding the perfect three-row SUV, we’re confident that there’s no better choice than the 2020 Honda Pilot.

However, as your Virginia Beach Honda dealership, we know that you shouldn’t just take our word for it. That’s why we’re comparing the 2020 Honda Pilot with another popular model, the 2020 Toyota Highlander.

While the 2020 Toyota Highlander got a full redesign for this model year, the Honda Pilot keeps the same design as last year because the Honda Pilot was redesigned for the 2019 model year. However, both models offer a roomy interior and bold exterior. That said, there are several areas where we feel the Honda SUV excels against its rivals, and not just when it comes to fuel economy.

When it comes to options and trim levels, the Honda Pilot offers more with six trims compared to the five found in the Toyota model. All Honda Pilot models run on a 3.5-liter V6 engine that puts out 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. While the Toyota Highlander puts out slightly more power, it lacks in the safety department.

Family SUVs need to come with impressive safety features, and luckily, the Honda Pilot doesn’t disappoint. Standard advanced safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic braking, road departure mitigation, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam assist.

Inside, both models offer plenty of comforts, but we find the Honda Pilot model’s plush interior and ease of use wins out over the Toyota model. Furthermore, when it comes to price, you can get a higher trim Honda Pilot for about the same as the entry-level Toyota Highlander model.
