Having functional brakes is absolutely essential to both vehicle performance and safety. Your car’s brake system consists of more than just the brake pedal. There are several components that work together to bring your car to a complete stop when you press the pedal. Even one of these small parts malfunctioning can cause the entire brake system to stop working.

Here at our Honda repair center, these are some of the most common types of brake repairs that we perform.

Shoe Replacement

Generally, pad, or shoe, replacement is recommended every 20,000 miles to stay on the safe side. While some pads can last up to 50,000 miles, others wear out around 10,000. Honda cars come with a pad wear indicator that sticks out from the brake pad assembly.

Bleeding

Bleeding the brake lines refers to the process of draining all the brake fluid out of your Honda car in order to replace it with new fluid. The brakes lines are normally bled after any brake repairs to ensure that the lines are full of fluid and free of air pockets.

Line Replacement

Replacing your brake lines is more of an emergency repair in the field of brake repairs. The function of brake lines is to carry brake fluid from your master cylinder throughout the brake system. This fluid keeps everything well lubricated and in working order. Even a tiny hole in the brake lines can cause contamination. Sometimes a line can be patched instead of replaced, but if the hole is big enough, the line needs replacement.
