If you’re torn between buying a new Honda car and a pre-owned Honda, then a Honda Certified Pre-Owned car might be right for you. Blending the affordable pricing of pre-owned cars with the high quality of new Honda cars, a Honda CPO car is an excellent choice for savvy drivers.

In order to become part of the CPO program, a pre-owned car must undergo a specific certification process. Here is how it works.

Program Eligibility

Before a Honda car can even be considered for entry into the CPO program, it must first meet certain standards. For a pre-owned Honda car to be considered, it must have been made within the last six years and have less than 80,000 miles on the odometer. If it meets this criteria, then it needs to pass a rigorous 182-point certification that covers key areas:

  • Brakes
  • Engine, exhaust, and drivetrain
  • Steering and suspension
  • Tires and wheels
  • Body condition and paint

These inspections are completed by a highly trained Honda service technician, and if any parts are not up to par, they are swapped out with a genuine OEM Honda part.

Additional Benefits

In addition to the strict program eligibility, buying a CPO Honda car comes with additional benefits. These include:

  • Complimentary Vehicle History Report: Documents details such as registration history, title information, and accident history
  • 12-month/12,000-mile Limited and 7-Year/100,000-Mile Powertrain Warranty
  • SiriusXM Radio: Free three-month trial period
  • Up to two complimentary oil changes
  • Roadside Assistance: Lasts the duration of the limited warranty
