Maintaining your Honda car regularly is the best way to ensure that it enjoys a long life, as well as continued excellent performance, safety, and fuel efficiency. In order to keep your Honda car in top condition, the manufacturer recommends getting maintenance on a set schedule.

Here in our Honda service center, our team of Certified Honda mechanics is happy to guide you on how often to get Honda car maintenance.

Maintenance Reminder Systems

If you drive a newer Honda car, there is a good chance that it includes a built-in in-vehicle maintenance reminder system. This system takes a number of vehicle operating conditions into account and provides an alert on the dashboard of your Honda car when it is time for maintenance such as oil changes, fluid level checks, and other maintenance services.

Mileage-Based Service

If you drive an older model Honda car that does not have an onboard maintenance reminder system, then mileage-based service is the way to go. There are typically two different maintenance schedules: one for cars driven in normal conditions and one for cars driven under severe operating conditions. Severe conditions include:

  • Primarily short trips
  • Extremely hot, dusty, or cold climates
  • Sustained stop-and-go driving
  • Carrying heavy loads or a trailer

If your vehicle falls under any one of these categories, follow the maintenance schedule as outlined in your owner’s manual. If not, you can follow the schedule for normal vehicle operation. A general guideline is that you should bring your Honda car in to our mechanics for a service checkup every six months.

Schedule your Honda maintenance today at Hall Honda Virginia Beach. Our mechanics are ready to get your car back into like-new condition.
